My dear Jane
I came safely through – luggage & all – and arrived to the tick at Corfe – in drenching fog & rain, steamy hot & heavy. All the way full trains tho & not overcrowded. Masses of Canadians – cheery & interfering with no one – no murders or such like.
I eat your delicious sandwiches at Templecombe & I thought I had never tasted anything so good. I kept losing my hat, leaving it in rack, but it was always returned to me – 3 times. I found poor bereaved people here burying their dead after the double Raid on Swanage.
I miss your bright company & your pretty ways you were very sweet & good to me.
I am very grateful –
Now to work !
There is lots to do.
Don’t forget my thanks to Robert Graves for giving me the run of his square strong white house – his books, vegetables, fires above all peace. My love to you Frances
