My Dearest Rée
I send you my new address: As above – from Sat 21st I have taken two rooms at a Farmhouse where I shall stay as long as it suits me. It is close to the sea, that is 1 mile down & 5 miles up and quite close to Swanage which you know where I can do my shopping, get books etc. I mean to sit quiet & wait for the impulse – it pays.
I am still a crock – who croaks – the throat still gives me trouble but persevere with the treatment.
I know that I am talking too much for my strength so shall be glad when I get off by myself & give the poor larynx a chance. I intend going all domestic. Doing my own cooking on a small oil stove & getting the food I like, getting up very early working whilst I am fresh, resting midday and so on. It will do me a heap of good.
What a week. Corfe has been like an ant heap of people & vehicles very trying to the temper & glaring to the eyes. A tasteless jumble of red white & blue. How glad I shall be when it is all over.
Tomorrow I am going to Swanage & shall be weighed. Still very little sun about but it feels warmer. The enclosed cutting is funny don’t you think? No news. Every day my final thought is gratitude & thanks for saving my life. But for you I should have died of heart failure.
I’ll let you know the why & how from Worth & if it is as good as its name. Much love from Frances. Thank you for the letters & parcel & for yr book.
