My Dear Dorothy
It was most awfully nice of you to write. Much cheered by your letter.
Shall hope to see you over the week end – that is if my voice holds out – at the moment of writing rather wheezyly inclined towards bronchitis. I travelled to London yesterday on a day ticket – with a load of canvasses & shall be coming up again on Friday for the hanging etc.
Am thinking of putting up at the Lodge 1 St Georges Square as advertised in Statesman and am wondering if you will be so very kind as to ring them up and ask if they have a single bedroom for Friday night for about a week or more – at 5/- a night – possibly dinner. It will be a great help if you can do this kind thing. Hannah Ritchie told me of it.
This will give you time to send me a p.c. by return.
It has the advantage of being at your end of the world.
I am sending you some cards. By all means send to Mr Fletcher & of course Major Elliot & your nice Doctor friend.
E. B says she will come for P V. & bring her pals at Broadstairs. I hope she will manage it.
So come – both sisters – please. It may not be a social success – nor even a financial one but it will be a d—d fine show – pardon me for saying so.
I am all but dead with fatigue & fuss generally but a quiet weekend in St George’s dowdy little dingey square may pick me up.
We’ll try & meet if possible. I’ll write as soon as I hear from you yes – or No.
Heaps of love & thanks My Dear. So glad you are still in London.
Frances
Can we see “Masquerade” together. It is good.
