Dear Miss Selby
The Drawing came back safely – very many thanks. I am sure it must have been difficult making a choice – it may even be the case of taking the one you dislike least. I would like to have sent you others – but the postage is so heavy.
At any rate you can quite easily swop the one you have for something you may fancy more when we meet again. Remember I am going to Tréboul this summer – if you can get away I hope you’ll come & persuade E Barling to join you. Don’t fix up any date – but just come if you care to. I shall be there from about mid June and will let you know where I have put up. I am in great need of a rest & change & propose making the sea trip from Liverpool to Brest. There will only be a small party – not a Class in the official meaning of the Act.
I hope you have had a successful time at Shaftesbury and got some decent sketching weather. Here it has been superb – almost dazzling. My Street an oasis of peace & quiet.
Yes, I got an intimation from Mrs Cooksey that they had removed into a still more Feudal residence – not much about terms – but plenty of little Athens History. I suppose that sort of thing attracts some people – it bores me.
I am glad you managed to get away for Easter – family crises will arise and do break up one’s plans but I am glad your Aunt is better again and you were free to go.
Don’t feel you must answer this but I wanted you to know my plans. I hang my head in abject apology for keeping you waiting so long for the Sketch.
Kindest regards from Frances Hodgkins.
