Dear Mrs Field
How very kind of you to send me that wonderful parcel, which arrived safely, and was so full of many really unobtainable things in this country. I was much touched at your thought and should have written sooner. However, I have had a very sad time since Christmas, as I lost a cousin, who was staying with me, very suddenly, so you will forgive my delay in writing.
I often think of Frances, and I and her old friends often talk of her. She was not a personality or a friend that one was likely easily to forget.
I do hope that this finds you fairly well, and all your family too.
With renewed thanks for your most kind thought and gift, which I do appreciate.
Yours very sincerely D M Selby
