My dear Sissie
I enclose a letter I have just received from Fanny. I am afraid she is having a bad time. It is most unfortunate her having this internal trouble. I do hope she is now on the mend.
You have a picture of hers “The Barn” I think. I have been endeavouring to have it for some time. Her sales In N.Z. have been most unfortunate and I have only been able to remit her the proceeds about £10 to which I added another £20 against any future sales. Will you let me know as soon as possible about this missing picture. So, if it is sold, I would like to send Fanny the money. She worries me a lot and I don’t know what is to be her future. She will have to come out here again I expect but she will be a very disillusioned & disappointed woman.
We have just returned from ten days at Wairakei. I fished and Jean played bridge. We both feel [?] change. The roads are so good now it is a pleasure driving over [? ?] on them.
We have lately come across some of your friends – Mrs Hay [? ?] & Mrs Clair. Jean remembers. By the way I am collecting old oak to go with our pewter & blue china.
