My Dear Geoff
Yours of the 24th just come & that lifts a load off the mind. To tell you the truth, I was feeling quite bad about you & did fear the worst. At first I thought you might have got nabbed by the Huns, then that you had gone to Italy, by way of a little distraction, but as time wore one and still no news, I got rather blue & wrote to the H. Commissioner to know where the d-----l you were & why the d-----l didn’t you write. In about a months time I will no doubt hear the reason. Don’t leave me so long again Geoff dear just shoot off a card – from week to week. I am glad you put up some fun at Xmas – and got enough to eat – and didn’t eat it in a mud hole. YMCA much the Better ‘Ole to be in at such a time. I will send you a parcel tomorrow a ginger bread baked by the woman who lives next door. Had a bunny sent me today – wish you were within sharing distance – when will you get your next leave. It is due soon I hope. Going up near Wales in the Summer with my class. Perhaps you will join me there – Miss Williams is coming. Weather still rather foul – with Spring day patches when we feel like new born lambs. Food not so scarce & we are not starving yet. Meat doled out & butter spread very thin – but we won’t squeal till we have to eat our boots. I dined with friends at a Hotel on Xmas night & had a very good dinner. I drank to yr very good health & luck. No more now Geoff dear. This is just to let you know how happy I feel to know you are all right & at the other end of a penny stamp. Be sure to write at once if any thing goes wrong & you want help. I am thinking of you all the time. Much love dear Boy. From yr loving Aunt
