My Dear Geoff
I was glad to get your cheery p.c. today & to hear you are safe & well as far behind the lines as you don’t mention, & which I fondly hope is some good distance & there you will remain for some time I trust. I would love to see & hear you struggling with the French language & coinage, straffing both I expect.
I missed you very much dear boy – tho’ I am very busy with pupils & portraits. Tomorrow go for a week to Port Isaac 60 miles from here on the coast, to stay with the pretty lady who lived in the green studio, you remember, & paint her husband, boy & girl. A large order – isn’t it. I would be awful to make a mess of it. If you hear of my throwing myself over the cliffs you know know the reason.
I hope you have plenty of home letters & papers. Let me know anything you want or fancy. Do Geoff dear – I would love to send you something you really feel greedy for – tho’ I know you never are that in the least bit. I will send off a cake today if possible, also some papers. Send me a p.c. if you get them safely. Squally weather, thunder & rain. I wonder what it is like with you. You sound as if you were working like a young lion – it must be hot work this weather. Au revoir & love till we meet again dear Geoff. Your loving Aunt Fanny
