My Dear Geoff
Yours just come. So glad to get in touch with you but am rather sad you have only 4 days leave. But we must have the jolliest spree we can in the time. This is what I suggest. You see I am back in St Ives – Burford didn’t do, so I came back here & am not sorry. This is a ripping place in summer as you’ll agree when you see it. Well, suppose, the moment you are free you get on board the first train for St Ives – I expect you will have to do a few quick changes but that’s nothing when you travel light.
I’ll look up some trains & let you know – in case you are too busy yourself. I’ll get you a room close to my Studio & we can have meals together & I’ll show you round – perhaps you might even get in a little bathing. Best part of a good day will be spent in the train I fear, perhaps a night train wld save time – I’ll see. Jack Rich came all the way from Edinburgh & loved it & I am sure you will too. We’ll leave London till another time – first time you are back from France. We’ll celebrate in style – perhaps Ba may be Home by then. Of course if you would rather fall in with any of your friends’ plans & run up to London with them you must do so. I will quite understand tho’ much disappointed not seeing you. Do whatever you want to do dear Geoff. I only wish I were in London to give you a good time – anyway I can give you a jolly warm welcome down here – so come along as fast as you can. Don’t write but stick down on this p.c. when you get leave & I’ll meet the train & let you know the best one to catch. Love from Frances Hodgkins.
