My Dearest Sis
I am homeward bound at last! I have got a berth on the “Otranto” sailing 3rd Oct from Toulon – a bare 3 weeks from now. I want you awfully to come to Melbourne & meet me if you can. Do try – it would be lovely to see you there on my arrival & we could run the Show together & make a big thing out of it with your presence gracing it. I am sure you want a holiday & spree away from yr family. For my own sake I want you to come badly – I feel horribly shy coming home after all these years & will want your support. I do hope you will be tempted by the idea & that I will see you on the pier when I arrive. I am in the throes. Another week here polishing off pupils – they have rallied round me to the last & we depart hence en masse. The weather is doing its awful utmost & we might as well be in an Aquarium.
Two of my pupils – the sporting sort – are going up in an aeroplane tomorrow if it is calm enough. They have to pay £4 each.
There is much to be done before I sail – it frightens me but I will worry thro’ somehow I expect. Send me a line to Colombo or Fremantle or Adelaide & say you will cheer my homesick eyes with a sight of yr dear old self.
Your loving sister. I arrive Melbourne about 7th or 8th November I fancy. I shall be most awfully disappointed if you don’t come. I am sure you wld enjoy it. I know I should. Best love to Mother.
