My dearest Sis
I haven’t written to you for a few days I had hoped to have better news for you dear. We have been so sad and anxious about Father, and I am greived [sic] to have to tell you that he is in a very critical state. The Doctor has just been and he has told us that Fathers symptoms are very grave. Mother would have written to you herself, but she does not feel able. I wish you were with us dear it is a sad and anxious time but I hope and trust the dear old man will soon be better and as strong as ever he was. Untill quite lately he has driven to and from the office for a few hours, but now he is too weak to get out of bed. He suffers from intense drowsiness and sleeps nearly all day. The Dr. says it is an abcess on the bladder and of course you know how serious that is. Percy is not going back for a few days yet, he is the greatest comfort so thoughtful and unselfish. Frank, I am glad to say is out camping. Mother wants me to write to Aunt Jane by this mail. I am dreading it but I suppose it must be done. Last week I spent house hunting but the Dr. says we mustn’t dream of moving now, when Father is well enough he is to drive down and is to avoid all walking. I wish this had been a more cheerful letter for you, dear Sis but I hope to have better news for you in a few days, in any case I will wire you how Father is. Do not fret dear old girl I have every hope that Father will be better soon. With much love Your loving sister Fanny.
